BSA Query is a measurement and calculation of body surface area. Due to the complexity of direct measurement, many formulas have been applied for estimating body surface area over the years. Using these formulas, the body surface area will be calculated in square meters.

Body surface area or BSA is usually used for clinical purposes rather than body weight, as it is a better metabolic mass (fat free mass) indicator than body weight. For example, BSA is used to determine the cardiac index to better calculate the approximate effective Cardiac output.

In chemotherapy, it is usually used for dose determination. The dose of glucocorticoids is also expressed in BSA, which is used to calculate the maintenance dose.

There are currently various formulas to estimate the value of BSA. In our body surface area calculator, we use the most popular and widely used Du Bois formula, which is well-known for effectively estimating body fat in obese and non obese patients.

In the following formulas used in our calculator, BSA is expressed in square meters, W in kilograms, and H in centimeters for height.
